CA COURSE IN MANGALORE

CA Course in Mangalore: ICAI's Chartered Accountancy Course & LeAF Academy's CA Training

Chartered Accountancy is India's most respected finance and accounting qualification — the credential that carries unmatched authority with regulators, courts, and businesses for audit, taxation, and statutory compliance. It's also one of the most misunderstood courses among Mangalore's commerce students, since much of what circulates online is based on ICAI's old scheme rather than the New Scheme in effect since May 2024. This page lays out exactly how the CA course works today, and how LeAF Academy structures CA training in Mangalore.

What Is CA (Chartered Accountancy)?

Chartered Accountancy is regulated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the statutory body established under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949. A CA is authorised to sign statutory audits, represent clients before tax authorities, and hold positions — like Chief Financial Officer of a listed company — that are, by law, reserved for qualified professionals. No other Indian finance qualification carries the same regulatory standing.

In June 2023, ICAI notified a New Scheme of Education and Training, effective from the May 2024 exam session onward — fewer papers, a shorter articleship, and more frequent exam windows. At LeAF Academy, Mangalore, we teach the current scheme so students and parents get accurate, up-to-date guidance from day one.

CA Course Structure: Three Levels (New Scheme, 2024 Onward)

The CA (India) course is divided into three levels — Foundation, Intermediate, and Final — each building technical and strategic expertise under ICAI's revised syllabus.

CA Foundation — 4 Papers

Entry point after Class 12

  • Accounting
  • Business Laws
  • Quantitative Aptitude (Business Mathematics, Logical Reasoning & Statistics)
  • Business Economics

50% pass mark, with 0.25 negative marking per incorrect MCQ.

CA Intermediate — 6 Papers (2 Groups of 3)

Reduced from 8 papers under the old scheme

  • Group I: Advanced Accounting · Corporate and Other Laws · Taxation (Direct Tax + GST)
  • Group II: Cost and Management Accounting · Auditing and Ethics · Financial Management and Strategic Management

Minimum 40% per paper, 50% aggregate per group. Direct Entry graduates can register here without Foundation.

CA Final — 6 Papers (2 Groups of 3)

Also reduced from 8 papers

  • Group I: Financial Reporting · Advanced Financial Management · Advanced Auditing, Assurance & Professional Ethics
  • Group II: Direct Tax Laws & International Taxation · Indirect Tax Laws · Integrated Business Solutions (Multidisciplinary Case Study with Strategic Management)

Requires clearing ICAI's Self-Paced Online Modules (SPOM) before sitting Final.

Articleship, Exam Frequency & Realistic Timeline

Articleship: Now 2 Years, Not 3

Practical training has been reduced from 3 years to 2 years under the New Scheme. Students become eligible to start articleship only after clearing both Intermediate groups and completing ICITSS training. An additional post-articleship year is needed only for those seeking an independent Certificate of Practice.

Exam Frequency

Foundation and Intermediate are now offered three times a year (January, May, September) — a real improvement over the old twice-yearly calendar. CA Final continues on its established cycle; always confirm the latest exam calendar on icai.org.

Realistic Timeline

Clearing every level on the first attempt, the theoretical minimum is around 4.5 years from Foundation to qualification. Accounting for the reattempts most students need, 5 to 7 years is a more realistic range — which is exactly why structured coaching at each level matters.

Eligibility & Entry Routes

After 12th (Any Stream)

Register for CA Foundation directly. A minimum study period applies before you're eligible to sit the exam.

Direct Entry (Graduates)

Commerce graduates meeting ICAI's specified percentage criteria — and other-stream graduates meeting a higher threshold — can skip Foundation and register directly for Intermediate.

Foundation Isn't Compulsory for Graduates

One of the most common misconceptions we clear up with students and parents in the very first counselling session.

Total Cost of Becoming a CA: ICAI Fees + LeAF Training Fees

Every CA student pays two separate things: ICAI's own registration and exam fees (set by the Institute, unrelated to any coaching institute), and coaching/training fees. We lay out both below so there are no surprises.

ICAI's Official Fees

LevelRegistration FeeExam Form Fee (Both Groups)Approx. Total
CA Foundation₹9,000–9,800₹1,500~₹11,300
CA Intermediate (both groups)₹18,000₹2,700~₹20,700
CA Final (both groups)₹22,000₹3,300~₹25,300

ICITSS and AICITSS carry their own separate fees, payable to your training provider. ICAI fees are revised periodically — please confirm current figures on icai.org before finalising your budget.

LeAF Academy's Training Fees

LevelLeAF Training Fee
CA Foundation₹21,000 + GST
CA Intermediate₹24,000 + GST per group (₹48,000 + GST for both groups)
CA Final₹24,000 + GST per group (₹48,000 + GST for both groups)

Every LeAF Training Fee Includes:

  • Complete lecture notes for every subject
  • Regular class tests, so gaps show up while there's still time to fix them
  • Full-length mock exams under real exam conditions
  • Dedicated revision sessions before each attempt
  • Additional study resources beyond the standard ICAI material

What Makes LeAF's CA Training Different

A student's chances of clearing each level on the first attempt depend more on structured mentoring and honest feedback than on the volume of material thrown at them.

Taught by a Practicing CA

Real professional experience in the classroom — not just exam-pattern drilling.

Small-Batch Attention

Doubt-clearing when a student actually needs it, not once a week in a crowded hall.

Structured Test-and-Revise Cycle

Regular class tests and full mock exams mean no weak area is discovered for the first time in the real exam hall.

Articleship Guidance Included

We help students choose the right articleship firm rather than leaving them to figure it out alone.

Transparent, All-Inclusive Fees

No hidden charges for notes, tests, or revision material — it's built into the fee from day one.

Local Campus in Kankanady, Mangalore

Real mentoring for students across Mangalore, Mangaluru, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod, without relocating.

Career Opportunities After CA — In India and Abroad

A CA qualification opens a genuinely wide range of paths — often wider than students expect when they start the course.

In India

Big 4 & Mid-Tier Firms

Statutory audit, internal audit, tax advisory, transaction advisory, and forensic accounting.

Industry & Corporate Finance

Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Internal Audit Head, and CFO roles reserved for qualified CAs.

Banking, NBFCs & Insurance

Credit analysis, risk management, treasury, and compliance roles.

Consulting & Investment Banking

Valuation, M&A advisory, and deal structuring roles.

Government & PSUs

Roles with the CAG's office, PSU banks, and government auditor empanelment.

Global Capability Centres

Controllership, FP&A, and compliance roles at MNC offshore finance hubs.

Independent Practice

Set up your own firm offering audit, tax, and GST advisory services.

Abroad

Unlike ACCA or US CPA, the Indian CA qualification doesn't carry automatic professional licensing recognition in most other countries. What it does carry is significant real-world respect for the rigor of the training.

Gulf Countries

UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain — the most common first international move for Indian CAs.

Singapore & Southeast Asia

Regional finance roles at MNCs and Indian companies with a regional presence.

UK, Canada, Australia, US

Typically via MNC industry roles, Big 4 global delivery centres, or pairing CA with ACCA for easier mobility.

For students who know from the outset that international mobility is the priority, LeAF gives honest, course-agnostic guidance on pairing CA with ACCA or pursuing ACCA directly — we teach both.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Find answers to the most commonly asked questions about the CA (India) course, eligibility, fees, and career opportunities with LeAF Academy.

No. Commerce graduates meeting ICAI's specified percentage criteria (and other-stream graduates meeting a higher threshold) can register directly for CA Intermediate via the Direct Entry route, skipping Foundation entirely.

Two years, not three — this was reduced under ICAI's New Scheme, effective from May 2024. Students who want to practice independently afterward need one further year of experience in a CA firm for a Certificate of Practice, but the core articleship requirement is 2 years.

Two separate costs apply: ICAI's own registration and exam fees (roughly ₹57,000 total across all three levels, both groups, at current rates) and coaching fees. At LeAF, coaching fees are ₹21,000 + GST for Foundation, and ₹24,000 + GST per group for both Intermediate and Final — with lecture notes, class tests, mock exams, revision sessions, and additional study resources included at every level.

The theoretical minimum, clearing every level first attempt, is around 4.5 years. Realistically, most students take 5 to 7 years once at least one reattempt is factored in — which is exactly why structured coaching and honest mentoring at each stage matters.

Not with automatic licensing recognition the way ACCA or US CPA holders can — but Indian CAs are widely respected and heavily represented in Gulf countries, Singapore, and at MNCs and Big 4 global offices worldwide. Many CAs targeting international careers specifically pair their CA with ACCA, which offers substantial exemptions to qualified CAs.

Yes — guiding students through choosing the right firm for their 2-year articleship, and staying available as a mentor throughout it, is built into our CA program, not treated as a separate service.
